Sourdough Starter
Choose between an active live starter or a dehydrated sourdough starter. Taken directly from a mature culture that has been maintained for over 30 years.
**PLEASE NOTE**
Your sourdough starter is a live, active culture. During transit it may continue to ferment and, in some cases, can expand enough to escape from the pot and into the sealed bag. If this happens, don’t worry, it is completely normal and does not affect the quality of the starter.
Simply scrape any starter from inside the sterile bag back into a clean container. You only need a small amount of healthy starter to get it going again, and once fed according to the instructions, it will quickly become active and ready to use.
Thank you for understanding that live cultures can sometimes be a little enthusiastic on their journey!
Active
This active live sourdough starter is taken directly from a mature culture that has been maintained for over 30 years. It is fully established, regularly fed, and ready to incorporate into your baking routine.
Unlike dehydrated starter, this culture arrives alive and fermenting. With a feed on arrival and a short adjustment period, it will be ready to leaven bread quickly and reliably.
The culture produces balanced acidity and strong fermentation activity, making it suitable for a wide range of naturally leavened breads — from country boules to bâtards, pizza dough, and enriched recipes.

Dehydrated
