WECK Rubber Sealing Ring RR100
The rubber ring that sits between a WECK jar and its glass lid. Without it the lid just rests on the glass. With it, and a pair of clips holding the lid down, the jar seals.
Sized for jars with a 100 mm round rim: the 545ml, 580ml, 795ml, 850ml, 1000ml, 1050ml and 1575ml. Genuine WECK, natural rubber, sold singly.
When to use it
Use it when your starter goes in the fridge between bakes, with the lid clipped down. Leave the ring out and the lid loose while the starter is out on the counter and rising, so the gas can escape.
Rubber perishes. Replace the ring when it has gone hard, or when it no longer springs back after you press it. Once the rubber has lost its give it cannot seal, and the clips will not make up for it.
