Wooden Spurtle
A flat teak paddle on a slim handle, cut from one piece of wood with no glue, lacquer or coating on it. It is finished with coconut oil, which is why it feels smooth rather than raw.
At 3.5cm wide it goes down the neck of a WECK jar, so you can stir a starter in the jar it lives in. The flat edge also scrapes the sides on the way out, which is the part a spoon never quite manages.
Good to know
Teak will not mark a non-stick pan or a ceramic dish, so it doubles as a stirrer for porridge, sauces and batters.
It is natural wood, so the grain and colour vary from one to the next.

Care
Hand wash in warm water with a mild soap and dry it properly. Wood left wet will crack. A light coat of food-safe oil every few months keeps it from drying out.
